NBT & YAP Seek Youth Development Specialist

NBT, along with our partner, Youth Advocate Programs, operates the School-Based Youth Services Program in New Brunswick School District. We are looking to hire a Youth Development Specialist for this program.

Position: Youth Development Specialist              Location: New Brunswick, NJ

 

Status: Full Time Hourly                                         FLSA Classification:  Non-Exempt

Currently, YAP employs more than 2,000 dedicated workers and serves approximately 20,000 youth and families per year.  Our mission is to engage human service systems so that they rely less on institutional care and invest more in supporting families and neighborhoods. Summary of the Position:  Youth Development Specialist is responsible for the coordination and supervision of recreational activities. Must manage accurate documentation and responsible for implementation of intake assessments. Maintain good communication and act as a liaison between school personnel, families, and community. Make the appropriate referrals to external community agencies. Support summer programming. Provide monthly and quarterly agency reports and maintain documentation. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of online database. Attend and participate in internal and external meetings. Assist with projects and activities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, school counseling or youth development preferred. Knowledge of local community high desirable. Experience working with youth in an urban setting and working with diverse communities. Skills needed: written and oral communication, able to maintain accurate documentation, must be computer literate, ability to work within a team, able to multi-task, and works well under pressure.

 

Bi-Lingual(English and Spanish) is preferred.

Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, clean driving record and auto insurance coverage with a minimum bodily injury liability limits of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident.
